KEX
Kids Fund – Referral
by school nurse, counselor, or other designated
school representative only in state accredited
schools, the public school system and state or
federally funded alternative schools in the following
counties: Benton, Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia,
Hood River, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington,
Tillamook, and Yamhill. For children birth to
17 years, limited exceptions for 18 through 21.
Guidelines: child qualifies for free or reduced
lunches; family income is $25,000 or less for
family of four; child enrolled in state or federal
funded program such as Headstart, no or only partial
insurance benefits. Also funds hearing exam and
hearing aids.
LensCrafters
– Gift of Sight Vouchers given by local
Lions Clubs or other organizations to purchase
low cost eyeglasses; On-site vouchers include
a limited number of free vision exams and eyeglasses
for walk-ins, often booked well in advance; also
includes a very limited number of exams and eyeglasses
for persons referred by approved agency with statement
of need, agency’s Tax ID number on letterhead;
Hometown Day is one day during the first week
of December, applicants must be pre-screened,
appointments made well in advance, normally by
referring agencies.

for resource listings and also provide some vision
assistance.
Pacific
University – Southeast Family Vision

as low as $40, depending on household income and
number of people living in household; single vision
lenses $99; bifocals $139, frames free if they
don’t have funds. Must pay $40 up front;
$40 deposit to order eyeglasses. Exam normally
$140, so make sure to ask about sliding fee scale.
Sight

Must be legal resident, have no vision insurance,
income less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level
to qualify.
Vision
USA (for children and adults) –
1-800-766-4466; nationwide program. Vision exams
only; once qualified, the entire family is qualified.
One adult in household must have at least a part-time
job.
